The job of updating this blog keeps getting harder and harder. I'm used to going through slumps of inactivity, but lately I just can't stayed motivated. You may think that this is easy, particularly since I rarely put any creativity into my writing - I normally just rant or link or say goofy things - but just sitting down and staring at a blank screen is difficult.
Mostly, I use this forum to escape the blank screen of my word processor or screenwriting format - thinking to myself that at least I am writing someting!
Which is true. In fact, it's all that I'm doing now: writing something. Am I accomplishing anything? If stringing a few words together in mostly the correct syntax and structure without real value is the goal, then the answer is yes. If making a few of you smile and wish to come back in the future for some fresh smiles or thoughts, then the answer is also yes.
That's it then. Isn't it? Gaining some measure of satisfaction from affecting someone with a few lines of meter or prose.
Yes, I suppose it is.
I promise to write more often. (Was that to me or you?)
BTW, how is SF, Mr. Green?

From Wired ...
Cheney's Next Job
Is Dick Cheney trying to prove he's hip to the internet? Speaking Thursday in Cincinnati, Cheney downplayed recent negative economic indicators, such as unemployment rates and consumer spending, because they miss an important source of income for Americans: eBay. "That's a source that didn't even exist 10 years ago," Cheney said. "Four hundred thousand people make some money trading on eBay." Let's hope these folks aren't selling off their belongings to stay afloat. John Edwards, the Democratic VP challenger, responded: "If we only included bake sales and how much money kids make at lemonade stands, this economy would really be cooking."

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today
Dogmatic? Perhaps. But you'll be surprised at how many are spot on!

Will someone please spare me the indignity of this presidential election?
It has been a long time since two candidates have brought such a stunning combination of nothing and less than nothing to the table. Because of my stance on civil liberties and human rights, my hand is forced: I must vote for Kerry come 11/2. I do it purely out of protest however. Kerry is one of the worst presidential candidates since ... well, George W. Bush.
As a registered independent, and thereby not being allowed to participate in the primary process in the state of PA, I ask, "What were you Democrats thinking?" Did you actually think that it would be so easy to defeat Bush because of the 00 election that you would vote such a calculated waffler as your candidate?
Not that the alternatives were such great shakes, but there hasn't been such a non-charismatic, pedagogic, stiff since ... well, Al Gore.
Both candidates show a deft hand at opportunism and sloganeering. Both candidates have a uniquely myopic view of the conditions that spawn and nuture Islamic terror. Both candidates have an uncanny knack at covering their asses. But most of all, both candidates successfully show their contempt for the itelligence of the American electorate. (Yes, I know, Jim. The American electorate rightfully earned its reputation for stupidity.)
Normally, regardless of the lack of talent any two candidates possess, my mantra is "Vote." No matter who, no matter why just vote. This year, however, I'm being to wonder if it wouldn't be better if we all --and I meann all!-- stayed home?
