Donating to Obama 08
I'm very excited to report that two people have now donated to the Barack Obama 08 campaign through my fundraising efforts.
With the "Decider" and Vice-Decider again calling opposition a lack of patriotism, it is clear that this administration is completely bereft of any new ideas - or any ideas for that matter - on how to handle the insane mess they've created in Iraq.
And with procedural stall tactics and threats of fillibuster, the Republicans in the Senate have shown that they lack the ability to lead on the issue as well. BTW, there are 21 Republican Senators up for re-election in 2008 so there could easily be a clean sweep of Republican laggards and boot lickers.
Donating to the Obama campaign is the best way to get a jump on that much needed change.
So that I don't sound like a partisan hack, the 12 Senate Democrats up for re-election in 2008 need to get their act together as well. Non-binding resolutions are not worth the paper they are printed on. The only way to affect real change is to introduce legislation that seeks to drastically curtail W's ability to continue waging this "war" without being held accountable.
Instead we get fear, inaction, and a political calculus that looks for a survivable position until the storm blows over. Let's not let that happen. Every day of inactivity costs lives (both U.S. and innocent Iraqis) and drains the treasury of funds needed here.
Please write your senators and tell them it is time to stand up and be counted. To do the right thing. To support our troops by having less of them killed. To hold this administration and its permissive congressional counterparts accountable for failings and misdeads that have lead down this destructive road.
