Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday to my mom. She doesn't read my blog or any other for that matter, but I want to wish her a great B-Day here anyway.
We went to lunch with mom, Sami and the kids at Applebee's. Or Apples as Molly likes to say. It wasn't my first choice to take her to a mediocre chain restaurant, but for those of you who've not been there, there's not a lot of places open for lunch on a Sunday in Beaver County.
For a number of years, mom and I only had each other. Literally. It was sort of an us against them thing. It was the whole single mom with few resources deal. We saw some tough times, but things were never terrible for me. She made sure of that. We had little, but I had everything I needed - and more when possible.
As with everything else, things changed, got better. A new brother. A new husband. Growing up. Moving around the country. My own family. Etc. One thing never changed though: we never forgot what those tough times were like and how much we helped each other through them. Today every hug feels as much like a thank you as it does an I love you.
Which brings me back to Happy Birthday, mom!
