Oink If You Love Pork
'Pig Book' targets government pork
That's right despite exploding deficits, multiple wars, a health care crisis, and congressional scandal; our elected officials are still bringning home the pork at record pace. This year's 29 billioni is 6.2% higher than last year's record 27.3 billion. Both of those numbers sure sound like good sized payments toward the national debt.
And what is pork you ask?To qualify for the "Pig Book," a project must meet at least one of these standards: requested by only one chamber of Congress; not specifically authorized; not competitively awarded; not requested by the president; greatly exceeds the president's budget request or the previous year's funding; not the subject of congressional hearings; serves only a local or special interest.As I always say ... we deserve the leaders we have. We really do.
