So Kerry finally put all speculation to rest and chose John Edwards as his running mate. And, of course, the Republicans have already turned out to trash the pick.
The complaints - only a few valid - are many: too young, too rich (yeah, the actually said that ... the Republicans!), too liberal, too inexperienced, too Southern, too much of an attorney, too much a Democrat, too this ... too that.
The ticket has energy for sure, probably the most in many years. Edwards is a good choice to energize the base and capture a few independents. His liberal stances, however, could be very damaging when combined with Kerry's.
The conservative base has much fuel for the months ahead. I can only hope that the energy created by Kerry's decision will be enough to get them through come November.
