About
As an amateur chef, my favorite taste is umami. It's savory and chewable. Sumptuous and satisfying. It's scientifically proven to be craved by both humans and animals. It is believed to be essential.
As a drummer, my favorite musical ingredient is the beat. It's what is felt. Thumping and pulsing. It's what drives music. Lose the beat; lose the song. It is essential.
As a writer, my favorite undertaking is the idea. It's the spark that ignites. It's the frame upon which story is hung. It, too, is essential. Without it nothing proceeds.
That's the challenge of copywriting: what is the idea? It's why I'm a writer.
Along with years of writing experience, I am armed with a number of additional skills:
- Project Management
- Team Management
- Brand Development
- Web Development
- Interaction Design
- Film & Video Production
... and, of course, copywriting.
My professional writing career started with local TV spots and corporate video. Over the years, it evolved to Web sites and multimedia. Today it includes all that plus brochures and direct mail.
As a trained filmmaker, I am steeped in narrative form. My years at Penn State and The American Film Institute fine tuned my story radar.
Everything has a story. Every product. Every service. Every brand. The challenge is to find that story and match it with the best way to tell it so that the audience will understand and appreciate the message. Whether cave painting or television commercial or viral video, the art of storytelling is essential.
